ACRA is pleased to provide the public with the folowing resources. It is ACRA's intent to assist its members, our clients and the general public with the resources necessary to understand the importance of cultural resources, Cultural Resorces Management businesses, and the laws that govern the protection and preservation of our nations heritage.
Why ACRA and Why CRM
All archaeologists are faced with questions about what archaeology is and what archaeologists do; others pages can assist with that (see wikipedia). We will provide some background on CRM archaeology, its practitioners, and the initiation of ACRA.
Salary and Economic Surveys
ACRA routinely polls the Member and non-Member CRM communities on issues of greatest concerns to our businesses. Our Salary surveys focus on regional patterns of annual sales, business practices, wage and benefit packages, and how ACRA can benefit the industry. While the full report of the survey is available only to member firms and those firms that participated in the study, others can view highly summarized and older versions here.
In August of 2012, ACRA conducted a brief survey to gauge how the current economic climate is affecting our businesses. We received a total of 73 responses, 45 responses from ACRA members, 24 responses from non-members and 4 who did not answer. The survey report provides a snapshot of how the economy has affected CRM businesses across the United States.
Federal Regulations and Guidelines
The cultural resources management industry interfaces with the government at a number of levels. These include departments or agencies that regulate business for the benefit of employer and employee, create the federal regulations and guidelines under which the CRM industry operates, provides project opportunities to CRM companies, and maintains historical and documentary information for research purposes. Cell tower guidelines can be found here.
A list of professional organizations associated with Archaeology and CRM can be found here.
In the future, ACRA will provide lists of positions available at ACRA-Member firms.
